If you haven't yet checked out our "Think Like a Producer" series of articles, now would be a great time to do that. We started this series of interviews in May of 2011 and have so far interviewed five individuals who work directly with voice-over talent in some capacity. We've chatted with recording studio engineers, production company owners, advertising execs, and our latest 3-part interview is with one of our favoriate Male Voice Talents on the planet, Ed Victor -- The Big Gun himself! Ed is just a great guy to talk with about virtually anything, so we knew we'd be able to cover a lot of topics in our interview with him. He has a unique perspective also because he was in the advertising business for several years, winning many awards along the way. So he has some great insights and knowledge about how ad agencies think and what they expect of voice-over actors in a session. We've got Parts 1 and 2 online with the final segment coming in a couple weeks.
On Monday of this week, we received our brand new Musicam Suprima LC ISDN / IP Codec from Dave Immer at Digifon.com. So far we are LOVING it! The Suprima LC is much easier to use than our previous unit which was an APT Worldnet Tokyo box that served us well for over 9 years (may it rest in peace). Hoping the new one lasts more like 15! We considered buying a used unit, did a lot of research and read a lot of articles about how ISDN is going to "disappear soon," however, we're betting it will be around for another several years at least. And this new unit has IP capability, so we're looking forward to using that as a bridge into the new ways of doing remote sessions over the internet. If you haven't already met and done business with Dave Immer, he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful with all things ISDN related.
During the month of December 2011, our newly promoted marketing person, Paul Rarick, took a series of webinar classes offered by Jason McDonald of JM Internet Group on Search Engine Optimization strategies and techniques. He came a way with a long list of changes that we could implement and he'll be plugging away for several weeks trying to get our website to move up the Google search rankings on all of those great voiceover talent related keywords and keyphrases. Actually, he'll be working on that for the next several years -- it seems that SEO is a never-ending process. Debbie is very happy to have Paul handling these types of activities as she is now much more freed up to just record and deliver voiceover projects for our many wonderful clients. Paul has also taken over most of the accounting duties and is doing a big chunk of the audio editing too!
